I feel like Merlin Mann has some of the best thoughts on the whole hacking movement, and what it’s become. This video sums those views up pretty well. For more serious thoughts, we talk about it a lot in the film.
This is an old post from the creation of the documentary project You 2.0, a series chronicling the beginning of the modern productivity movement. You can learn more about it here.
Exploring Life Hacking 10 Years Later
A look back at the origins of life hacking from my decade old film You 2.0.
I don’t think putting a light bulb in a lamp or stuffing toilet paper in your pants constitutes as valid Life Hacks. This video degrades the value of your website and what your trying to do in my opinion.
Not really. The film isn’t a how-to guide on hacks to shave 10 minutes off your morning routine or toast your bread faster. It’s a critical looking at the whole personal productivity movement, both the good and the bad.
There’s a point where all the hacking sites go beyond useful information to ridiculous stuff, and you spend far more time reading about life hacking than actually getting stuff done, and that’s a point that comes up in most of the interviews, from Merlin Mann to Tim Ferriss. Merlin’s film sums that viewpoint up pretty well.
